My name is Zione Hong.
My goal is to become an animation artist. I would like to create animation movies that can be enjoyed by both hearing and deaf children. Growing up I did not see any feature animation films with characters using sign language. I’ve always wanted someone in those movies that could represent I and my deaf culture. I realized it is my destiny to create stories that will make all deaf children feeling include. I am sure other deaf children had similar thoughts as me when I was little, and I want to inspire people young and old through my art. Sign language is not only about used hands but it also involves facial and body expressions.
All of these components are very important as well. I would like to express this beautiful language through my animation. I believe this is a good way to increase public awareness of deaf people and the Deaf culture. Through this process, I hope to become a role model for deaf children and any children that feel left out of activities. We are all important individuals full of worth and potential for greatness. I want to encourage young people to express themselves, especially those who are interested in fostering their talent and love for making art.
